Day 278

I discovered that the petCam has a built-in motion detector that saves JPEG images to your hard drive every time the camera detects something moving. It was interesting seeing what the dogs did after we left for K-9 University this morning to walk the Dalmatian Rescue dogs. Dot just sleeps unless she hears a noise, but Dash is a pacer. About every 45 minutes, he gets off the bed and makes a circuit from the bedroom to the office to Janet's bathroom and back to bed again. He seems to leave guarding the house to Dot, because when she gets up to bark at something, he doesn't even bother to get off the bed. I guess this shouldn't be all that surprising. This is exactly the same thing the dogs do when we are home.

The weather is getting cooler now, but all that means on a typical Fall Sunday is that the chores move back outside again. I mowed the grass again this afternoon and tried to get the Summer's accumulation of spiderwebs off the living room windows. I don't know where all the spiders come from, but I wish the lizards would start eating them. If we've got to live with lizards all over the house, they ought to do something useful. At least we don't have to worry about rats anymore. There are so many feral cats in the neighborhood these days that they eat them all.

It's hard to believe that the Dalmatian Rescue Golf Tournament is next weekend. It doesn't seem like it's been a year since the last tournament. I usually go around the course in a golf cart during the tournament and take pictures of the golfers while they are playing. Then when the teams return to the clubhouse for dinner, we show them a little slide show of the afternoon's activities. When I started doing this, we showed the pictures on a small iMac computer sitting on a card table in the lobby. Now there are video projectors and big flat panel displays. Expectations have risen too. Nobody is happy with just seeing the pictures while they are eating dinner anymore. They keep asking me when I am going to have everything uploaded to Photobucket, so they can order prints. Actually, I don't know why I even bother to take golf pictures anymore. The whole world travels around with a camera in their pocket these days. Last year, just about every time I stopped at a hole to take pictures of a team, they were already taking their own pictures with an assortment of cell phones and pocket cameras. This year, somebody will probably have golf pictures on their Facebook page before I even get back to the clubhouse.

  1. Hmmm- the dogs act the same when you are there and when away? Interesting.
