I also found some polymer clay that's exactly the right color to patch the chip in the sculpture that fell off the wall last week, but I'm going to save that repair for a day when I feel a little luckier. You're supposed to bake the polymer clay in the oven to harden it, and I need to make sure I won't catch the rest of the sculpture on fire or even melt it. There used be a show on television called Murphy Brown. Murphy had a handyman named Eldin who seemed to be at her house continually, working on an endless series of home improvement projects. If I were rich, I'd keep a handyman just like Eldin around to fix the endless list of things that break around here. I'm pretty good at fixing some things, but I'm even better at getting in over my head and making a mess of everything.
It almost hit 100 degrees outside this afternoon. Our short Texas Spring is definitely over. The dogs hate the heat and our walks are getting slower and slower. I have to remember not to take my morning shower until after I finish walking the dogs in the morning. I'm usually drenched in sweat by the time we arrive home again, and if I've already taken a shower, I've got to take another one all over again.
When I went to the bank today, the teller handed me my deposit receipt and then immediately asked me if I'd like a receipt. When I showed him the slip of paper he'd just handed me, he shrugged and said, "Hey, it's Monday." I already knew it was Monday. None of my clients returned my calls today.
