Day 135

I took Dash over to the vet this morning for his sonogram and he sailed through the procedure with flying colors. I thought he would squirm around and struggle when the technician moved the probe containing the transducer over his belly. He was a perfect gentleman though. Maybe he knew all along that there was nothing to be alarmed about. The test results showed that everything looked completely normal.

When I had my ultrasound exam recently, the machine they used was as big as a refrigerator. The sonographic scanner they used for Dash was as small as a laptop computer and produced much more detailed color images than the scanner they used on me. Once again the veterinarians are way ahead of the human doctors. Vets were using state-of-the-art digital x-ray machines several years before physicians started to use them. My own vet is already doing sophisticated stem cell therapy that probably won't be available to me for another ten years. It's frustrating to think that even though I'm spending a fortune on health insurance, my dogs are probably getting much better care than I am.

I'm glad it's Friday tomorrow. It's been a very busy week. For the first time in over a month I'm almost caught up on everything. All the client websites are up-to-date, the printer is working again, and even a few long-term projects have been completed. Maybe I'll have time to read a book again. Somehow I doubt it. If the weather stays as nice as it's been lately, I'll probably be spending the weekend mowing the grass, washing the car and planting shrubs. I need to clean the office too. It looks like a tornado hit it.
