Day 17 - New Year's Day

I'm not real big on New Year's resolutions. I know that change is good for the soul, but for the most part I enjoy things the way they are. I certainly don't need to lose weight. After all these years, I can still wear the same 32"x32" Levis I wore in college. I'd hate to give up drinking either, because I definitely enjoy a well-made Martini or a fine Scotch. Now that I finally have my blood pressure and cholesterol under control, I don't feel I need to do anything drastic like giving up bacon again. I still miss bacon, but don't get me started about missing things. I miss being able to buy leaded gas for 35 cents a gallon. I miss being able to buy Polaroid film for my beloved SX-70 camera. I miss the days when the Internet was a small private club for a few geeks that knew Unix.

Those days are gone though. What I really need to do this year is resolve to quit looking in the rear view mirror and start looking forward again. I may not need to worry about getting fat, but I do need to worry about becoming irrelevant.

The K-9 University Kennels are closed for the holidays, so we're on our way up to walk the rescue Dalmatians again. It's a clear sunny day and I've already finished the laundry. The year is off to a good start.
